Dr. Joseph OrtenbergĀ is a board certified preventive cardiologist who practices in Fort Worth Texas. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science in biomedical engineering and mathematics from Vanderbilt University. His medical education was completed at Tulane University School of Medicine, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He trained in internal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, then completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Ortenberg is the recipient of numerous research awards and prizes, including the John Herr Musser Memorial Prize and the Nicholas R. Diluzio Award in Physiology. He is the author of six original abstracts and research articles.

Dr. Ortenberg joined Consultants in Cardiology in 1999. His clinical interests include general and nuclear cardiology, as well as transesophageal echocardiography. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Consultants in Cardiology provides a high level of subspecialty cardiovascular care including the following:
Comprehensive cardiovascular diagnostic services including stress and three dimensional echocardiography, SPECT and PET nuclear imaging, treadmill exercise tests, Holter and event monitor studies and tilt table testing in a dedicated out-patient laboratory.
Analysis of all cardiac rhythm abnormalities and the provision of a wide range of therapies including ablation, biventricular pacing, and implantation of cardioverter-defibrillators.
Telephonic monitoring of implanted pacemakers and defibrillators and the capability of testing and changing settings on most devices currently available.
Transesophageal echocardiography.
Cardiac catheterization and arteriography.
Percutaneous coronary revascularization.
Stenting of the carotid arteries.
Peripheral vascular revascularization procedures including atherectomy and cryoplasty.
Percutaneous closure of atrial septal defects and patent foramen ovales.
Placement of filters in the inferior vena cava for prevention of pulmonary embolus.
